The easiest way to protect the collar of a leather top or jacket is by wearing a scarf. This keeps body oils and perspiration from setting in, which is the cause of ring around the collar.

Keep it Dry
Unless it’s waterproof, do your best to keep leather dry. If it does get wet, allow your leather to air-dry completely away from heat.

Keep it Cool
We understand this is not a difficult thing to do in Wisconsin, especially during the winter. But when storing leather, it’s important to keep it in a cool, well-ventilated place. Leather can dry-out or form mildew if stored in a hot or humid environment.

Let it Breathe
Store leather in a breathable container like a fabric bag, suitcase or wooden trunk. Never store leather in plastic, as leather needs to “breathe,” to avoid the formation of mildew. If storing more than one leather item, be sure to leave room around each item so it isn’t crowded inside the container.

Just like with your clothes, if leather becomes stained you’ll want to have it cleaned ASAP so the stain doesn’t set in.
